78 Series Troopy Fender Flares

Flares Built for the Troop Carrier Body

The Troop Carrier has the longest body in the 70 Series range, and that extra length means more panel area exposed to the mud, stones, and debris that wider tyres throw sideways past the factory guards. The flat sided Troopy body shows every stone chip and scratch, and once the paint is broken through the steel underneath starts rusting quickly in wet or coastal conditions. Fender flares for the 78 Series extend the guard coverage to protect those long side panels while providing the clearance needed for wider aftermarket tyres that most touring and expedition Troopy builds end up running.

Fibreglass Flares Matched to the Troopy Guard Profile

The Troopy shares its front guards with the broader 70 Series range but the rear guards are unique to the Troop Carrier body. Our fibreglass flares are moulded specifically for the 78 Series guard profile, including the rear quarters where the Troopy body differs from the 76 Wagon and 79 Series ute. Fibreglass is ideal for a Troopy build because it is lightweight, which matters on a vehicle that is typically loaded to the limit with touring gear, and it can be colour matched to the vehicle for a factory appearance or left in textured black for a utilitarian look. If a flare cops a branch strike on a tight track it can be repaired with a fibreglass kit rather than needing a full replacement.

Troopy Flares for VDJ78 and GDJ78

Flares are available for the VDJ78 V8 (2007 to 2023) and the GDJ78 facelift (2024 onward). The front guard shape changed with the 2024 facelift so make sure you select the correct set for your model year. Rear flares generally carry over between both variants as the Troopy rear body is largely unchanged. Front and rear sets are available separately or as a full kit for all four guards. Most sets mount using existing factory holes with no drilling required, keeping the installation reversible. Troopy owners building a touring rig with wider tyres typically fit flares alongside mudflaps, weather shields, and bonnet protectors as part of a complete exterior protection setup.
