The factory exhaust on a 79 Series is built to a noise standard, not a performance one. The result is restrictive piping, undersized muffler internals, and exhaust gas temperatures that work the engine harder than it needs to under load. A quality aftermarket exhaust opens the system up. Bigger bore piping, free-flowing mandrel bends, less restrictive mufflers. And the V8 or 2.8L responds with sharper throttle response, lower EGTs, slightly improved fuel economy under steady load, and a deeper purposeful note. The change is most noticeable when towing or when the engine is working hard up long climbs.

409 STAINLESS WITH DPF BACK AND TURBO BACK OPTIONS

Our 79 exhaust range is built from 409-grade stainless steel. The standard for performance exhausts in Australia because it survives corrosion in the harsh outback dust and humidity that eats mild steel in a season or two. Turbo-back systems suit pre-DPF V8s where you can replace the whole exhaust path. DPF-back systems are the legal-on-road option for 2016-onward models where the particulate filter must remain in place. Dump pipes, engine pipes, and DPF adaptor kits round out the catalogue. SEPARATE SYSTEMS FOR HZJ, VDJ, AND GDJ

The 1HZ uses a 2.5 inch system, the V8 uses 3 inch or 3.5 inch depending on the configuration, and the 2.8L runs its own DPF-compatible bore.
